When a neighbourhood turns against you…. new Yeah Yeah Yeah’s video “Sacrilege”

Incredible video, mixing up Coen Brothers style direction with a scary Wickerman style community.

Basically the main girl (Lily Cole) sleeps her way around the neighbourhood; but sleeping with the Vicar is the last straw, and the community (including those who slept with the girl during the video) then decide to pass judgement and dish-out the ultimate punishment.

New Orleans – Mon 11th March

Kermit Ruffins’ Speakeasy. Such a good place, which appeared to be mixed with locals and out-of-towners all keen to hear the best of N’awlins jazz in a low key venue.

Kermit invited a load of other singers to perform too; Nayo Jones,  “The Sleeping Giant” James Winfield, Kermit’s daughters and others. I forget the name of the guy who blew the roof off with a cover of Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness”. Everyone was incredible. And Kermit’s band, the Barbeque Swingers held it all together brilliantly.

If you’re in New Orleans on a Sunday or Monday, you have to go to this bar on Basin st. The food looked amazing too.

To top it all off, Robert DeNiro and LL Cool J walked in unannounced!

New Orleans – Sun 10th March

The "Keep n It Real" , 2nd line parade

The “Keep n It Real” , 2nd line parade

On our first full day in NO, we went and searched out the 2nd line parade (which started by the 7th Ward, and went down towards the French Quarter).

Unbelievable vibes. Best moment by far was the brass band starting up, and the dancers in suits emerging from a local building- who then led the parade down the road.

Shouts out to the I J Reillys store in the Faubourg Marigny who gave us the info of when and where the 2nd line parade was starting from – check their facebook page here
